Whetūrangitia is a website developed by the Life Events Team at Internal Affairs here in Aotearoa NZ, to provide information to bereaved parents, families and whānau when a baby dies.

For many years it was difficult to find any information online about baby loss, and despite many requests and suggestions to various government agencies to include such information on their websites, there was a general reluctance to do so. A chance meeting, which is described here in the story of how Whetūrangitia began, resulted in this wonderful website that now serves as a repository of information for a wide range of baby and child loss.

I am eternally grateful that Becky Cassam, Life Events Manager, Internal Affairs turned to me in a Ministry of Health maternity workshop and said 'we must meet for a coffee' back in 2018.
