They are especially designed for stillborn babies or young children that have passed away. A name, date, and message can be added, usually on the tummy or feet, and it can be made to match the weight and height of the lost baby. You can customise your bear with an embroidered message, as well as adding wings, lockets, ties, bow ties, scarves, etc. The bear can hold the ashes of your loved one inside it's tummy. This area is fully lined and can be accessed via a zip at the back. The bear can be made to match the height and weight of a lost baby. |
memorial plaques
Glover Memorials in Taita, Lower Hutt, kindly donates small plaques to Sands parents. These simple memorials are made from granite and marble samples, and come in various colours. The pieces are only 10cm x 6cm or 6cm square, but big enough to put a name and a date on. Glover Memorials donate all the materials and time, and ship it to your address free of charge. To arrange this, simply email [email protected] with your child's name and a date. Please include your name and an address to send the plaque to.

Hand and Foot Prints
Inkless or Ink prints of those gorgeous little hands and feet are a precious momento. A number of hospitals in New Zealand and many of our Sands groups now have access to Inkless hand and footprint kits. These are a fantastic way of taking prints, without damaging that precious and sometimes delicate skin. If your local hospital does not provide these, then please contact your local group or purchase your own directly from Sands Bay of Plenty. |

Angel Casts support parents, family and whanau through the loss of a child, by creating tangible keepsakes for bereaved parents, in the form of ink prints and hand and feet stone casts. These 3D stone replicas are exact impressions, capturing every line and wrinkle, including fingerprints and skin texture, preserving a perfect likeness of that child to comfort and support mums and dads in grief. They offer a free service in Hamilton and Waikato.

Paper Heart Designs - Pregnancy and Baby Loss Memory Prints
Nicki Busch, from Paper Heart Designs has released some lovely prints during Baby Loss Awareness Week 2024. For all sales in October, 20% will be donated to Miscarriage Matters. Here are Nicky's words to describe the prints...
I designed these prints after suffering six miscarriages between my two boys. At the time I noticed there wasn't a lot available as a keepsake - especially not for first trimester losses, where we didn't have a scan, or bump photos or anything tangible to remember our babies by. And there was nothing I could find for people like me who had suffered multiple losses. It took me a long time to feel strong enough to design these, and then it took me close to two years to feel brave enough to release them. I decided to launch them now in October to commemorate Pregnancy and Baby Loss Awareness Month.
There are five print designs available, in two different sizes, with a choice of two different text styles. All prints can be customised with a name and/or date at no extra cost. All prints are designed by me, and printed to order in Christchurch.
