Here is some more detailed information about the October topics:
RAINBOW INCLUSIVE PERINATAL BEREAVEMENT CARE In our hetero-normative world, the language and care around pregnancy, birth and perinatal loss can often be excluding and hurtful. Parents are already contending with grief and trauma, so in this session we are aiming to raise awareness and learning in order that you are not contributing to any further pain our bereaved, gender-diverse parents are experiencing. We'll talk about terminology/language, affirming and inclusive care and talk about strategies that may make all the difference. DISCUSSION WEBINAR: with bereaved parents, Thursday 5 October 2023, 8:00-9:00pm
FATHERS/PARTNERS AND LOSS When a baby dies, the focus is often on the mother or birthing parent. The partner or non-birthing parent often feels overlooked and as such, participates in the attention placed on the mother/birthing parent. Of course they are grieving too, and need care and support. In this session we talk about fathers, partners, non-birthing parents and how they can be supported and acknowledged throughout the loss of their precious baby as well. DISCUSSION WEBINAR: with bereaved parents, Thursday 12 October 2023, 8:00-9:00pm
WHEN A BABY DIES IN NICU This session is still being developed - more information will be posted very soon. DISCUSSION WEBINAR: with bereaved parents, Thursday 19 October 2023, 8:00-9:00pm
PREGNANCYAND PARENTING AFTER LOSS The loss of a baby often changes everything in our world, and a subsequent pregnancy and baby can suddenly feel very different to what we had anticipated. In this session we'll talk about how to provide support to an often anxious, and sometimes slightly irrational, bereaved parent who is pregnant with a subsequent baby. We'll cover terminology, thinking about another baby, coping with a subsequent pregnancy, and providing support throughout different outcomes in a subsequent pregnancy. DISCUSSION WEBINAR: with bereaved parents, Thursday 26 October 2023, 8:00-9:00pm
