Once again VCA and Sands NZ have collaborated to bring this series of webinars about aspects of baby loss to midwifery, nursing and social work students throughout the motu/country. We offer both online content and live webinars with bereaved parents and whānau.

The webinars will take place on Tuesday mornings (10:00am-11:00am) and Thursday evenings (8:00pm - 9:00pm). (Please note these times are different to our Summer School times). The sessions will be led by perinatal and infant loss educator, Vicki Culling.

Here are the webinar dates:

Tues 9th & Thurs 11th May 2023- early loss
Tues 16th & Thurs 18th May 2023 - perinatal hospice
Tues 23rd & Thurs 25th May 2023 - ending a wanted pregnancy
Tues 30th May & Thurs 1st June 2023 - self care for professionals working with baby loss

If you have any questions, please contact Vicki on 021-776436 or [email protected]

Registrations will open in early April.

Thanks to Sands NZ, the Autumn Series will be free for midwifery, nursing and social work students.

more details (FAQs)

  • can first year students participate in any of the webinars?
Yes, while it would be great for first year students to have done the Summer School , it's still appropriate that they do the Autumn Series and Spring Sessions as well. They might seem intense, but baby loss is intense.

  • will the sessions be recorded so I can see them if I miss the two available webinar sessions?
No, we've decided that we won't be recording the discussion webinars. This adds a layer of admin that takes up a lot of time, so that's why we are offering two opportunities to attend each of the discussion webinar sessions. If you can't make the discussion webinars, you are still able to complete the online content which is recorded.

  • do I get a certificate at the end of the webinars?
Yes, you will receive a certificate for the content you completed and/or the sessions you attended.
